Have you ever considered using reusable feminine hygiene products or period products during your menstrual cycle? If you’ve ever been curious about reusable pads and tampons, then you are in the right place! Let's talk about going green. I have reusable products explainer videos below which go through all the available options!
Why should I go green?
“After helping facilitate an over 200,000 donation of period products to Metro Nashville Public Schools, I realized we need a more sustainable solution. So I came up with the Green Period” Dr. Kisha Simmons
Better for your health
Bacteria can develop in disposable tampons that lead to a risk of Toxic Shock Syndrome (TSS). TSS is rare, yet it is a life-threatening bacterial infection. Pads have not been linked to TSS, but they are suspected to contain harmful chemicals. Since they are considered medical devices in the USA, manufacturers are not required to disclose the ingredients. Not to mention the dryness, chaffing and irritation that you may experience with the use of disposable pads and tampons. It’s time you learn about reusable pads and tampons. It’s not as bad as you think.
Better for your budget
Some have estimated that a woman may use up to 15,000 disposable pads and tampons during her lifetime. That’s a lot of money to spend over your lifetime. Reusables will save you hundreds over a few years. Disposables can cost you about $9 per month or $108 per year whereas a reusable pads investment can cost up to $100 but last for several years.
Better for the environment
Did you know that the average woman uses about 15,000 disposable pads and tampons throughout her lifetime? In North America alone, an estimated 20 billion bleached pads and tampons end up in our landfills and sewage systems every single year. Reusable pads and tampons will reduce the waste in our country.
